As an Arabian city, you need to follow some important guidelines for you to avoid problem during your visit. Visitors are expected to dress with decency. Skin revealing outfits and public display of affection even from married couples is not well tolerated. Fridays are observed as holy days and thus, consider this when planning your itinerary. Alcoholic beverages are served only in licensed restaurants and homes with license for alcohol consumption. There are only designated areas for smoking. E-cigarettes and vapes are not allowed and are confiscated in airports. All medications especially pain killers and anti-depressants require a doctor’s prescription. When taking photos especially of women in their national dress, better ask for permission if you do not wish to be in trouble.

Residents line up for last-minute papal mass tickets in UAE

Some Dubai residents were lucky enough to grab last-minute tickets for the papal mass, which will be held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on February 5. After hearing the 6:00pm mass on February 3 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Oud Metha, Filipino Reymund Resquites lined up for the distribution of tickets after church organisers announced that they would be giving away unclaimed tickets. Catholics can go to mass every Sunday but hearing a mass straight from the Pope himself is a rare opportunity. To make the moment extra special, the papal mass is happening in a Muslim country, which is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. No wonder that every catholic resident of Dubai wants to be present at the Zayed Sports City Stadium. Parishioners patiently waited to get a ticket. For those who were not lucky enough to reserve a seat, there will be a live streaming of the activity. Some employees working during that time only wish that they will be allowed to watch the papal mass to receive the blessings from the Bishop of Rome.

Dubai Creek in Dubai, UAE

Dubai Creek is a historical landmark in the city and now considered as one of the top destinations of tourists. Previously, it served to divide the city into two sections and minor port for trading and fishing. Today, the creek is the home of a yacht club and golf course, residential development and hotels. Tourists can get a glimpse of Dubai’s past by exploring the area. There are available boat rides for those who are on a tight budget and a cruise ride with buffet dinner and show for those with more generous budget. One can visit anytime of the day. But best time is to do the activity at sunset and at night as the whole place is beautifully lit in the evening.
